Auditions for the 2023 fall play will be Friday, September 15 at 3:00 PM in the Mary Armstrong Little Theatre.
How do I audition?
Auditions are after school in the Mary Armstrong Little Theatre on Friday, September 15 from 3pm to 6pm. Not everyone will be needed the whole time. Separate callbacks will occur only if necessary. No need to prepare a monologue; actors will read from a selection of sides from the play (to be posted Monday night). A few reminders for reading sides:
- You do not need to be memorized, but you should be very familiar with the text you are choosing.
- You should choose a side that speaks to you or features a role/character you are interested in playing.
- You should “slate” with an introduction modeled after the following:
“Hello, my name is [YOUR NAME]. I am a [YOUR GRADE LEVEL]. I’ve chosen side [side #], reading the role of [NAME OF ROLE].
PREPARING TO AUDITION
Copies of the script will be available to read digitally after school in the MALT on Monday, September 11. This is entirely optional. A perusal can be found on this website after the afternoon reading.
AUDITION PROCESS
After everyone has read we will break briefly and then hold callbacks that same afternoon. This means we will ask some people to stay and read from the script. All others will be released--this does not necessarily mean you aren’t cast in the show. It just means we have heard and seen all we need from you. If there are a lot of people at general auditions, we may need to push callbacks to after school on the following afternoon (September 10). Please listen carefully at auditions and communicate with directors if there are scheduling issues.
CASTING PROCESS
The cast list will be posted sometime over the weekend. Please check this website. We will email students individually with the outcome from their audition. If you are cast in a role, and you do not accept your part, you must email Mr. Mathias ([email protected]) by 6:00 PM, Sunday, September 17. Rehearsals will begin with a read-through on Monday, September 18 at 3:15 PM in the Mary Armstrong Little Theatre.
QUESTIONS?
If you have additional questions, feel free to contact or visit: Mr. Mathias ([email protected]), Mrs. Mathias ([email protected]), or mr Totty ([email protected]).
