Auditions for the 2023 fall play will be Friday, September 15 at 3:00 PM in the Little Theatre.
If you are interested in auditioning for the show, you must:
- Choose from one of the script sides (available Monday)
- Read and complete the audition form: Carefully read both informational letter, then print out and completely fill out the required agreement form (last page). (Remember, to read all three pages carefully—signature sheets should be signed by both student and parent/guardian.)
- LAST BUT NOT LEAST: Complete the online audition form (linked in the document) and BRING the printed, signed agreement form to auditions.
Monologue Requirements
Your monologue should…
- be from a published play (NOT a movie, TV show, poem, novel, or stand-alone monologue)
- be 45–60 seconds in length
- show emotional range and character
- be completely memorized
- begin with an introduction modeled after the following:
“Hello, my name is [YOUR NAME]. I am a [YOUR GRADE LEVEL]. Today I will be performing a monologue from [TITLE OF PLAY] by [AUTHOR OF PLAY].”
PREPARING TO AUDITION
Copies of the script will be available to check out overnight. The directors strongly encourage you to check out a copy of the script to read. Understanding more about the show you are auditioning for will help you pick the right monologue material. You are able to sign out a copy from Mr. M. in the Little Theatre. Scripts must be returned the following day.
AUDITION PROCESS
After everyone has auditioned we will break briefly and then hold callbacks that same afternoon. This means we will ask some people to stay and read from the script. All others will be released--this does not necessarily mean you aren’t cast in the show. It just means we have heard and seen all we need from you. If there are a lot of people at general auditions, we may need to push callbacks to after school on the following afternoon (September 10). Please listen carefully at auditions and communicate with directors if there are scheduling issues.
CASTING PROCESS
The cast list will be posted sometime over the weekend. We will email students individually with the outcome from their audition. If you are cast in a role, you must email Mr. Mathias ([email protected]) by 6:00 PM, Sunday, September 12. Rehearsals will begin with a read-through on Tuesday, September 14 at 3:15 PM in the Little Theatre.
QUESTIONS?
If you have additional questions, feel free to contact or visit: Mr. Mathias ([email protected]) Mrs. Mathias ([email protected]), or Miss Beck ([email protected]).
